The workshop on drafting requests for international legal assistance

The workshop on  mutual legal assistance held within  the EU-funded EU4Justice emphasized key principles and practical guidance to strengthen cooperation among judiciary institutions in the Western Balkans and the EU in the fight against organized crime and corruption.

Participants were the prosecutors, investigators, and professional associates of the Prosecutors Office of BiH, as well as for the prosecutors of the Canton Sarajevo Prosecutor’s Office.

Frédérique Dubost, Liaison Magistrate of France in Western Balkans, introduces the participants with the key steps in the cooperation in the field of criminal law. She highlighted the general principles on writing a request for international legal assistance, based on relevant international conventions applicable in Bosnia and Herzegovina, which will help to facilitate the exchange of information.

During the workshop, Frédérique Dubost, and participants were able to discuss extradition, international arrest warrant, and provisional arrest, as well as about intelligence sharing and communication channels such as Interpol, Europol, and police/court attaché networks.
