THE PRESIDENT OF THE HJCP BiH MEETS WITH THE AMBASSADOR OF THE KINGDOM OF SPAIN

The President of the HJCP, Halil Lagumdžija, met with the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Spain in BiH, H.E. María Teresa Lizaranza Perinat, as well as with Isabelle Arnal, Team Leader of the EU4JUSTICE project, and other experts engaged within the project.

The President Lagumdžija presented to the Ambassador Lizaranza Perinat the work and results of the HJPC BiH, emphasizing the room for the additional alignment of the judiciary of BiH with EU standards, which can be achieved through the recently adopted Reform Program of the HJPC BiH and its Action Plan, which is in the process of developing. He expressed his gratitude to the EU member states and the EU4Justice project, which are providing constant support through various exchanges of expertise with the HJPC BiH members in meeting challenges that BiH is facing on its EU path.

Ambassador Lizaranza Perinat highlighted the support of her country to align the rule of law with EU standards. She is proud that through the EU4Justice project, many Spanish experts have been involved and shared their experience on strengthening the judiciary in BiH and its capacities, showing that the Kingdom of Spain is not a passive but an active supporter of BiH as a candidate country.

The EU4Justice team leader, Isabelle Arnal, expressed her gratitude to Ambassador Lizaranza Perinat. Also, she expressed gratitude to the HJCP BiH members and HJCP BiH Secretariat for their joint work on improving independence, quality, effectiveness, accountability, and efficiency in the justice sector in BiH, emphasizing that having the support of the ambassadors of the EU member states for both the project and HJPC BiH is a key signal to continue working together
