The EU4Justice Phase II project team would like to warmly welcome Ms. Isabelle Arnal, the new team leader.
Mrs. Isabelle Arnal is a French senior prosecutor with 30 years of extensive experience in the judiciary, both in France and in foreign countries, e.g., Kosovo and Uzbekistan, for the United Nations and the European Union. Her last position in France until November 30, 2023 was Deputy Public Prosecutor at the Court of Appeal of Paris, delegated as Chief Prosecutor to Saint-Pierre & Miquelon, a French territory close to Canada.
Her first scope of expertise was the fight against organised crime when, as an assistant prosecutor in the French Riviera, she prosecuted local, Italian, and Russian criminal groups. In French Guiana, as Deputy Prosecutor, she dealt with serious crimes, cross-border crimes with Surinam and Brazil, murders in the context of armed groups, serious fraud, embezzlement, and cases involving international cooperation in criminal and civil matters.
She worked as National Expert Detached in Pro-Eurojust and as Senior Legal Advisor in Eurojust. In the office of prosecution in Paris, as vice prosecutor, she dealt mainly with matters facilitating international cooperation, such as advice to the EU investigative team.
She led the G8 criminal legal affairs subgroup under the US and UK presidency in 2004 and 2005.
She was an expert for the European Commission to assess the Bulgarian judiciary system in the pre-admission process to the European Union. From February 2019 to October 2020, she was Team Leader of the EU4Justice Phase I and acquired a deep knowledge of the BiH judiciary and its challenges.
